So, what is Garland trying to show this coming season? “That I’m better than last year,” Garland said. “First and foremost, I just want to stay healthy and get back to being myself, playing with that joy again and doing the things that I’m used to doing. Hopefully have an All-Star, All-NBA type of season and try to help this team win as many games as possible like I know I can. “I just want to stay healthy so I can get out there and shut so many people up that turned on me.”

Cleveland Cavaliers’ Darius Garland ready for a big bounce-back

Garland dealt with an assortment of injuries in the 2023-24 season including a fractured jaw. As a result, he only played in a total of 57 games, while averaging 18.0 points on 44.6 percent shooting from the field, That was after he averaged 21.6 points in the previous two seasons, including his All-Star year in the 2021-22 campaign.

Together with Donovan Mitchell, Garland is part of one of the best backcourts in the league which will also heavily dictate how far Cleveland will go in the coming season.

The Cavs kick off their 2024-25 schedule with a road game up north against the Toronto Raptors on Oct. 23.
