Draymond Green Clears the Air on 1 Major Chris Paul Misconception

Chris Paul has enjoyed a career worthy of a first-ballot inclusion into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. While his one-year stint with the Golden State Warriors didn’t result in a ring, those who got to play with him have nothing but praise for the 39-year-old floor general.

One of the players who enjoyed playing with Paul is Draymond Green. The four-time NBA champion gave a shining review on CP3, saying that the San Antonio Spurs’s move to acquire him in free agency will do plenty of good for Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle, the team’s future point guard.

However, Draymond will not be who he is if he doesn’t share his honest thoughts on what it felt like playing with such a phenomenal point guard. He cleared the air on what he thought was a fact that gets dismissed by the entire league.

Golden State Warriors’ Draymond Green explains why Chris Paul is a trash talker

Jeff Teague made an appearance on The Draymond Green Show, where they talked about the Warriors’ dynastic run in the mid-2010s.

Green talked about the team’s ability to identify frontrunners as a critical ability for the team’s multiple championships, and they discussed Chris Paul’s Clippers as one of the frontrunners they had to look out against.

Teague asked him if Paul was a trash talker due to him getting hate for his testimony about Paul. The Michigan State product had a hilarious reaction, corroborating Teague’s story.

“Absolutely! 1000%! 1000% talk!” he said.

He further explained what it felt like to play against him during the playoffs:

“When we were playing the Clippers back in the day, we thought they were frontrunners. I’ve gotten really close with CP so I take that with a grain of salt. Although I never thought CP was a frontrunner because he played the same way all the time: tough, physical as hell, smart, fast. If you talk, he’s getting into it with you.”

Paul averaged 18.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, 9.8 assists, and 2.2 steals a game during his six years with the Clippers . He orchestrated a supremely talented Clippers team that featured the likes of Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan, Jamal Crawford, and JJ Redick, but the team failed to break past the Golden State Warriors.

No one will question Paul’s incredible legacy as a player, and tales like this give a fuller picture of how Paul’s career has gone.
