Everton are on the brink of an agreement to sign Jesper Lindstrøm on a loan-to-buy deal after Napoli’s sporting director accelerated negotiations, according to Sebastien Vidal.
The Weekend Sports Magazine journalist reported via Twitter on 19 July that the Danish winger is ready to join the Toffees after a difficult season in Serie A a deal is now “very close”.
A deal could end up being worth €25million [£21m] if made permanent at Goodison Park where the 24-year-old would become the fourth addition of the summer transfer window.
Tim Ireogbunam and Iliman Ndiaye have arrived on permanent deals from Aston Villa and Marseille respectively, while Jack Harrison has returned on a second loan from Leeds United.
Sean Dyche set for 2nd new Everton winger after Jack Harrison
Kevin Thelwell and Sean Dyche have already done a solid job of fleshing out the attacking options this summer by getting Ndiaye and Harrison in so adding Lindstrøm would extend that further.
With a Willy Gnonto move back on the table from Elland Road a year after extensive attempts were frustrated [Sky Sports, 15 July] it looks like the Toffees boss might be afforded the luxury of choice in wide areas this term.
Selling Amadou Onana to Villa in a £50m deal clearly helps free up funds to make moves and the likely departure of Dominic Calvert-Lewin [TEAMtalk, 9 July] will do so further.
Losing the latter will be a blow though so there will need to be significant attention paid to landing proper replacement options at striker, especially amid interest in second choice Beto [Sky Sports, 17 July].

The window is shaping up to be far more eventful in a positive sense than might have been expected at times during the turmoil of last season.
Significant exits are never easy but with Everton looking like keeping hold of Jarrad Branthwaite [David Ornstein, 13 July] and adding new arrivals could prove to be a fruitful summer.
