Everton now trying to sign ‘unique’ £30m winger who’s wanted at Tottenham

Everton are moving on from their pursuit of Yankuba Minteh and are now looking to sign one of the Championship’s top talents.

The Toffees are busy in the market and scrambling to get deals done – both in and out – before the end of the month ticks by this weekend.

Everton have had issues with PSR and along with Aston Villa and Chelsea, have been wheeling and dealing already this summer to get themselves in good shape.

Despite already signing Tim Iroegbunam and letting Lewis Dobbin go to Aston Villa, it doesn’t appear the Toffees are quite done just yet.

They have been heavily linked with a move for Newcastle winger Yankuba Minteh but that deal looks to have fallen through, along with deal to send Dominic Calvert-Lewin the other day.

However, Everton are not stopping in their pursuit of new players and according to the Daily Mail, they now want to sign Hull City’s Jaden Philogene.

Everton want to sign Jaden Philogene for £16m

According to the report from The Mail, Everton are now focussing on a move for Philogene from Hull City.

The young winger enjoyed a superb season last year under Liam Rosenior and is one of the Championship’s most exciting talents.

It is claimed Everton are willing to pay around £16m for Philogene, who only cost Hull £5m in the first place from Aston Villa.

Quite whether that will be enough to get a deal done remains to be seen.

The likes of Tottenham have been credited with interest in Philogene already and when West Ham apparently declared their own interest, a £30m asking price was discussed.

Everton, then, might need to up their offer here if they are serious about the young winger.

Philogene scored 12 goals last season for the Tigers and hit the headlines with a stunning goal of the season contender against Rotherham United.

Lauded as a ‘unique’ talent by Micah Richards, Philogene can go back to Aston Villa, should they wish to activate a buy-back clause inserted into the initial deal.
