The “Sunday Night Football” contest between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Los Angeles Chargers went down to the wire.
The Chargers had a 27-6 lead in the second half before the Bengals scored 21 unanswered points.
The Bengals tied the game with just over 12 minutes to go, and they then had multiple chances to take the lead. However, Evan McPherson missed a pair of field goals down the stretch.
The second missed field goal came just after the two-minute warning, and it gave the Chargers another chance.
In the end, the Chargers survived with a 34-27 victory courtesy of a J.K. Dobbins rushing score.
Still, the two missed field goals loomed large for the Bengals.
After the game, Bengals QB Joe Burrow was asked what his message was to McPherson.
Burrow just shook his head and said, “No.” What do you say to Evan McPherson after those two missed field goals?

After the game and the comments, fans felt bad for Burrow, who ended up on the wrong side of yet another close game.
“He be so pissed and don’t care to show it,” one fan said. “Joe is so done with this team and the season,” said another.
“I wouldn’t talk to him either,” another fan mentioned. “He really wasted your efforts. it’s good to say nothing,” another fan wrote.
“The look at 4 seconds says it all man,” a fan pointed out. “Can’t say I blame him.
All he is there for is to kick the ball and he misses twice in key moments…” another fan said.
Me watching Evan McPherson every single week… Heartbreak after heartbreak. Feels like I watch the same ending every game.
This feeling sucks. Joe Burrow deserves so much better. He's going to be sore tomorrow. pic.twitter.com/vPzoN8dW1p

“I’m not one to usually defend teammates yelling at eachother But Joe Burrow and JaMarr Chase have EVERY RIGHT to absolutely lay INTO McPherson,” another stated.

Burrow looked extremely dejected during the press conference as the Bengals lost another one-score game. In 2024 alone, the Bengals are now 1-6 in one-score games, so all but one loss has come in that fashion.

Earlier in the season, McPherson missed a 53-yard field goal attempt in overtime against the Baltimore Ravens, a game the Bengals lost 41-38.
In Week 2, McPherson missed an extra-point attempt against the Kansas City Chiefs, a game the Bengals lost 26-25.
So, it has not been a great season for McPherson, who has missed some crucial kicks in crunch time.
The Bengals now drop to 4-7 and have back-to-back losses heading into a much-needed bye in Week 12.
