On Wednesday, the Florida Panthers held a quick practice at their new facility in Fort Lauderdale before taking a planned early afternoon flight to Edmonton.
Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans.
Heavy, constant rain swarmed across Miami-Dade and Broward Counties, causing flight delays at both of South Florida’s major airports.
The Panthers flight, which was originally scheduled to depart Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport shortly after 1 p.m., didn’t go wheels up until 4:25 p.m.
They should land in Edmonton around 8 p.m. MT.
The Oilers, perhaps wisely, flew back home on Tuesday.
Game 3 between the Panthers and Oilers is set for Thursday at 8 p.m. from Rogers Place.
Florida leads the best-of-7 championship series 2-0.
