Some depth on the blueline has been ensured in the City of Brotherly Love.

On Monday, the Philadelphia Flyers announced they have re-signed defenseman Adam Ginning to a two-year contract with an AAV of $787,500.

Flyers general manager Daniel Briere announced the signing. Ginning will sign a two-way contract next season, and his deal will move to a one-year deal for the 2025-26 season.

The 24-year-old was originally selected by the Flyers in the second round, 50th overall, of the 2018 NHL Draft, coming to North America prior to last season. He made his NHL debut on April 11, 2023, against the Columbus Blue Jackets and played nine games across the 2023-24 campaign, scoring his first NHL goal on April 6 against the Blue Jackets.

So far, Ginning has played a total of 10 NHL games, spending the majority of the past two years with the Flyers’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. In 126 AHL appearances, the Swedish defenseman has scored five goals and 34 points, including an assist in nine playoff games, with a plus/minus of +19.

Ginning came to the U.S. after a fruitful career in the Swedish Hockey League, where he played both with Linköping HC and Färjestad BK. He was part of the Färjestad squad that won the league championship in the 2021-22 season.

The left-handed shot has also represented his country on a number of occasions. Ginning has been on the Swedish that won bronze at the 2017 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, 2018 IIHF Men’s Under-18 World Championship and 2020 IIHF World Junior Championship.

As a result of the signing, the Flyers have 39 standard player contracts signed for next season. According to CapFriendly, Philadelphia has $803,572 in projected cap space.
