Francis Ngannou might have found his next opponent, with another title-holder asking ‘The Predator’ to share the cage with him in a major collision.
The potential clash would give two of the best heavyweights on the planet an opportunity to add to their already impressive legacies.
Reug Reug challenges Francis Ngannou to blockbuster fight
On November 8, Reug Reug pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the year, defeating Anatoly Malkykin at ONE 169, to claim the promotion’s championship belt.
While the fight was incredibly close, with fans split over who should’ve been awarded the verdict, the Senegalese brawler walked away with the title.
During the bout, he showcased his grappling skills and fighting heart, to claim the scalp of a man most thought would have far too much for him.
Now, with a spring in his step, Reug Reug is looking for a fresh challenge and would love nothing more than to go head-to-head with Francis Ngannou.
He posted on Instagram: “@yodchatri, The Boss, you were happy to make @francisngannou vs Anatoly happen.
“I beat the guy, so let’s make the biggest fight in African history ― @francisngannou vs Reug Rueg / @pflmma vs @onechampionship.
“I know @pflmma, @kogan_mike, @jamesfrewin_ @eduardocunhalima @danhardymma @jamesteers will say ‘yes’, and it’ll be the greatest honor of my fight career.
“Everyone has told me I can’t beat who’s in front of me every fight, so let’s test it against the greatest African MMA star in history. Let’s show the world what we can do!!! #AfricanLegacy #MMAHistory.”
Francis Ngannou challenged to get back in the ring by heavyweight boxer
While Reug Reug could be the best option on the table if Ngannou wants to return to the cage, another possibility has presented itself inside the squared circle.
In his career to date, Ngannou has laced up the ten-ounce gloves twice, firstly in a spirited effort against Tyson Fury, in which he dropped ‘The Gypsy King’ and left many feeling like he ought to have gotten the decision, before losing in brutal fashion to Anthony Joshua.
Despite recently proving he’s still very much at the top of his game in MMA, the Cameroonian would love to redeem himself in the sport of boxing.
Therefore, with a legend shouting his name, Ngannou just might answer the call.
