Friedkin may use new manager as way to convince Everton star to sign new contract

Dan Friedkin may use the fact that Everton will hire a new manager in discussions to get Jarrad Branthwaite to sign a new deal, according to Graeme Bailey.

The TBR journalist told Everton News on 22 November that the club are almost certainly going to bring in someone to replace Sean Dyche.

Along with that, the promise of new signings and a new stadium will also be used to persuade the English centre-back.

Bailey said: “It’s obviously an ongoing situation around him and the Manchester United talk is not going away. They still do like him but there are others interested.

“Everton would like to sign him down to a new deal, he’s an England international now and one of the most highly regarded defenders in Europe isn’t he really.

“So yeah, that’s where we’re at now with Branthwaite. It’s very highly unlikely he’ll go in January, but as we get into 2025 closer to the summer, it obviously forces Everton’s hand.

“Dan Friedkin I think would like to keep him until the summer and maybe persuade him to stay, with the new project and the promise of new signings.

“Almost certainly a new manager, a change of stadium, so you never know. It’s an interesting one, and I don’t think it’ll be a massive surprise for Everton fans when you’ve got the likes of Manchester United, Real Madrid and even Liverpool in the race, it’s very hard not to have your head turned.”

Jarrad Branthwaite should be made the centrepiece of the Everton project

The strategic use of a new managerial appointment, along with the promise of new signings and the upcoming move to Bramley-Moore Dock, presents a compelling case for Branthwaite to remain on Merseyside.

Friedkin and the new ownership could position the 22-year-old as the centrepiece of Everton’s future, making him not just a player but a symbol of the club’s new era.

Highlighting his role as a key player in a squad rejuvenated by new investments and leadership could appeal to Branthwaite’s ambition to be a pivotal figure at a club undergoing significant transformation.

This approach not only underscores his importance but also aligns with the broader vision of returning the club to their former glory.

By making Branthwaite the flagship of this transformation, the club can ensure continuity, leadership and a strong identity for the fans, which is crucial for rallying support and building a team capable of competing at the highest levels.

Hopefully, he does not have his head turned by any club willing to offer him more money and better prospects.
