We are now less than two weeks away from the start of the new Premier League season, and clubs are starting to feel the rush with the plenty of transfers still to wrap up ahead of kick off.
Naturally, clubs have until the end of August to finish their business, but the majority will want their squads locked in before kick off, and international tournaments this summer have only congested things. As the business continues, we have rounded up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding the top flight teams.
Fulham to lose Ream
Fulham are likely to find themselves needing another defensive signing after snapping up Jorge Cuenca from Villarreal this summer. That’s because, according to HITC, long-serving star Tim Ream is set to return to the United States to join MLS side Charlotte FC.
Ream will follow centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo in leaving the club this summer, and Fulham, according to the report, will now push to sign a replacement before the end of the window.
Berge ‘talks’
Manchester United are said to be interested in a deal to sign Burnley midfielder Sander Berge. The Athletic have said that the Red Devils are already in touch with the midfielder’s camp as they look to add depth to the midfield positions.
The 26-year-old has previously been linked with the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool, but he had to settle for Burnley after leaving Sheffield United after the season before last. After suffering a second successive relegation, Berge is now expected to move on again after just a year. A big time move to the Old Trafford could be on the way, according to reports.
Romero claim
Tottenham are said to have kept Real Madrid at bay this summer amid interest in Cristian Romero. According to Gaston Edul, Real Madrid were willing to make an offer for the Argentine defender this summer and actually contacted Spurs to find out if they could strike a deal.
But the report adds that Tottenham told Los Blancos that their defender is not for sale for any price this summer. Amid recent exit links, Romero told ESPN F90: “I always strive to play at my best. I have a lot of respect for Tottenham. They’ve always given me a lot of support here, so I like playing here. I don’t think about other clubs or their possibilities. “I know there’s a lot of talk about a possible move, but I’m calm. At my club I play differently to the national team, more forward. I still have years left in Europe and I want to see where I can go. Hopefully this year we can win a title at Tottenham.”
