Fury Unborthered By Usyk Vacating The IBF Belt

Tyson Fury is not disappointed that Oleksandr Usyk vacated his IBF belt, preventing the Gypsy King from fighting for undisputed in their rematch.

The rematch takes place on December 21 after Usyk won the first fight via a split decision. The Ukrainian become the first Undisputed Heavyweight Champion since Lennox Lewis. Fury has maintained that he won the fight, resulting in mass criticism. He alleged that Usyk only got the decision due to the war in Ukraine.

He then referred to Usyk as an amateur boxer, despite the Ukrainian almost knocking him out in round nine. Anthony Joshua has since then referred to Fury as delusional. While Fury has won every belt in boxing despite having never been undisputed, he cannot be considered the best of his era until he becomes undisputed. And yet, Fury’s manager Spencer Brown says the belts are not the focus.

Fury’s Team

“We done the fight. The next fight will be for the unified title. Tyson just wants the fight. He doesn’t care if it’s for no belts. He wants to right the wrongs. He’s not bothered about belts. I think Tyson Fury wins the fight,” Fury said

Nevertheless, if Fury desires to be undisputed, there is still a chance. A win over Usyk gives him all the belts except the IBF. Once Usyk vacated, Daniel Dubois became the full champion since he held the interim belt. Joshua will fight Dubois on September 21 to become a three-time world champion. Joshua and Fury agreed to face each other during a FaceTime interaction. They both agreed to fight, with Joshua stating that the results of their next fight does not matter.

Turki Alalshikh: “Champ [Fury], finish the job on 21 of December of 21. We are waiting for you.”

Joshua: “I’m waiting for you. I’m waiting for you.”

Tyson Fury: “Good. I’ll get the job done [against Oleksandr Usyk].”

Joshua: “No, you won’t. Either way, I’m waiting for you.”

Fury: “I’ll get the job done.”

Joshua: “Either way.”

Turki: “Either way, he’s waiting for you.”

Fury: “Either way, I’ll fight him next. When are you going to put it on? What date?”

Turki: “In the first or second quarter of 2025. AJ waiting for you and the world waiting for you.”

Fury’s Future

Frank Warren has echoed those words by stating that the winner of Joshua-Dubois will fight the winner of Fury-Usyk.

“All roads will lead to unification again. He’s [Usyk] getting a massive payday for the rematch that he was contracted for against Tyson [Fury]. That’s what the position is. It’s pure business as far as he’s concerned. If it were about holding onto the belts, he wouldn’t have relinquished (the IBF title).

“He’s in it for the money, and obviously, the rematch is a massive fight everyone wants to see. Whatever happens, the winner of this fight on September 21, which will be Daniel, will fight the winner of that fight, and the four belts will be back on the line again. Whatever Happens,” Warren stated
