Fury Warned About Fighting Ngannou In The Cage – ‘Will Not Last One Round’

Tyson Fury has been warned against fighting Francis Ngannou in the cage.

Before their first fight on October 28, Fury discussed the possibility of facing Ngannou in MMA. However, their boxing bout did not go entirely to plan for Fury. Ngannou was the massive underdog since he was making his debut. He trained with the former Undisputed Heavyweight Champion Mike Tyson to get an edge. It did pay off as Ngannou dropped Fury with a sweeping left hook. He continued to press Fury until the final bell in an impressive debut. Despite losing a split decision, some were of the view that Ngannou had been robbed.

The rematch did not happen, as Ngannou faced Anthony Joshua. Ngannou would get knocked out, but Fury was in the crowd during the build-up for the presser. He attempted to get into Ngannou’s head, who reminded him that the boxing rules saved him from getting beaten in a real fight. He told Fury he would ‘beat him twice on a Sunday’ as the Gypsy King was speechless. While Fury may back himself in any fight, Rogan did not see things ending well if the fight happened.

Rogan Reacts

“We all know, that look, I’m a huge boxing fan, boxing’s amazing, I love boxing, but we all know if Francis Ngannou and Tyson Fury had a FIGHT fight, that…will not last one round… Like an MMA fight. Boxing is a sport. MMA is the sport of fighting,” Rogan said

Fury has his work cut out when he takes on Oleksandr Usyk in their rematch on December 21. Fury tasted his first-ever defeat, as he was nearly knocked out in round nine. The standing eight count did not detract away from Fury bouncing off the ropes, clearly showing signs of being concussed, as the fight should arguably have been stopped. Usyk was mocked for being a middleweight and a rabbit. However, the Ukrainian negated the size disadvantage to walk Fury down.

Will It Happen?

Another loss to Usyk may help get the Ngannou rematch, especially if Fury feels he can no longer compete at the elite level. The Gypsy King will want to rectify the errors from the Ngannou fight, as it led many to believe he was no longer the same fighter. Ngannou has previously said the Fury rematch will happen. But he must first get past Renan Ferreira as he makes his PFL debut on October 19. It is Ngannou’s first MMA fight since beating Ciryl Gane at UFC 270 in 2022. But a win may lead to another boxing fight.

“It’s going to happen. I mean there’s Fury and [Oleksandr] Usyk, even then we spoke about it. There’s Fury and Usyk going on, so [the Joshua fight] was like an opportunity. I was waiting for Fury, but this was the opportunity that I was happy to take, I [asked] for. And at the end of the day, this won’t take anything away from the Fury rematch,” Ngannou stated
