‘I’ll go for…’ – Former EFL man drops QPR vs Charlton Athletic score prediction

QPR have been predicted to draw 1-1 with Charlton Athletic this weekend by former EFL player Sam Parkin.

QPR head into their upcoming Championship clash off the back of their 7-1 loss away at Coventry City last time out. The Hoops are currently sat in 22nd place in the table after one point from their first three fixtures.

The R’s drew 1-1 with Preston North End on their own patch before losing 2-1 against Watford at Vicarage Road. They then fell apart at the CBS Arena in their last outing and need to bounce back.

Ex-Luton Town and Swindon Town man Parkin has said on the Benjamin Bloom channel on YouTube“I’m quite clear on how this one might go. I think it will be low scoring. I think they’ll be some negative murmurings around the home stands. Charlton will frustrate and maybe get their noses in front but then I’ll go for (Richard) Kone to get a goal on his home debut. I’ll go for a 1-1 here and that will probably do for both teams in the situations that they will both be arriving into this game in. Charlton, (have made a) promising start, good for a point. QPR probably need a goal and a performance to get everyone on board.”

QPR finished down in 15th place in the league last season. They cut ties with Marti Cifuentes in late April and he has since linked up with fellow second tier side Leicester City.

The Hoops have since appointed Julien Stephan as their new head coach. The Frenchman has managed in his native country with the likes of Rennes and Strasbourg in the past.

It has been a busy summer on the recruitment front for the London outfit. They have delved into the market to snap up the likes of Richard Kone and Kwame Poku, among others.

Will QPR bounce back from Coventry City loss?

QPR have a great opportunity to put things right in front of their own fans. Their scoreline against Coventry City was unacceptable and that performance can’t happen again.

Their upcoming opponents Charlton Athletic have adapted well to life back in the second tier. The Addicks were promoted from League One last term along with big spending pair Birmingham City and Wrexham after they beat Leyton Orient in the play-off final at Wembley under the guidance of ex-Luton Town, Stoke City and Southampton man Nathan Jones.

The Hoops have the chance to bring in some more new faces over the coming days before the end of the transfer window. The deadline is on Monday at a slightly earlier time than usual, at 7pm.
