Hurricanes Sign FW Seth Jarvis to 8-Year, $63.2 Million Contract Extension

The Carolina Hurricanes have locked standout forward Seth Jarvis to a new long-term extension. The Canes announced over the weekend that Jarvis inked an eight-year, $63.2 million deal. The 2020’s 13th overall pick became a restricted free agent after the 2023-24 NHL season.

It is important to note that Jarvis’ deal will come with a substantial amount of deferred money. He will receive $29.24 million in signing bonuses, which are spaced across the first five years of the contract.

Canes’ general manager Eric Tulsky said that the team is excited about the future with Jarvis and labeled him a franchise cornerstone announcing the news.

“Seth is a cornerstone player for our franchise,” Tulsky said. “He took another huge step last season, playing in all situations and displaying the skill and competitive drive that will make him a star in this league in the years to come.”

Jarvis is coming off a career season in which he set career highs with 33 goals and 34 assists for a total of 67 points. He was the second-leading scorer for the team in the regular season and also added nine points (five goals and four assists) in the playoffs.

Overall, Jarvis has 64 goals and 82 assists for 146 points in 231 regular-season games since making his debut during the 2021-22 NHL campaign.
