Injured 1st-Round Rookie Troy Fautanu Moves to IR

Pittsburgh Steelers first-round pick rookie right tackle Troy Fautanu suffered a knee injury during practice on Friday and now it’s been determined he’s moving to IR.

He started last week against the Denver Broncos and played well, hoping to kick off a string of strong.

But after the injury on Friday, the team announced he’ll miss Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers at Acrisure Stadium. … and now he’s going to miss a month.

Fautanu had won the right tackle job from Broderick Jones by outplaying him in the preseason and early this year, but now as Fautanu deals with his knee issue, Pittsburgh must revert back to Jones due to the injury to Fautanu.

This could impact the Steelers’ passing game on Sunday when quarterback Justin Fields makes his third straight start while Russell Wilson continues to recover from a calf injury sustained on the first day of training camp in the summer.

The Steelers and Chargers are both 2-0 on the young season.
