During his time with the Dallas Mavericks, Jalen Brunson was considered a complimentary piece to the puzzle alongside superstar Luka Doncic and someone who could flourish in that role while sharing the floor with one of the best players in the NBA.
However, Brunson had bigger aspirations than simply playing in Doncic’s shadow, as he strived for more, so he decided to sign with the New York Knicks as a free agent, which was considered a bold move by the team and the player.
In retrospect, joining the Knicks was the best thing that ever could’ve happened to Brunson as he got to work with his father, who is on Tom Thibodeau’s coaching staff, while also becoming a household name not far from his hometown in New Jersey.
It has been a wild ride for Brunson over the past couple of years as he has gone from a borderline star with the Mavericks to owning the city of New York as a bonafide superstar while steering the Knicks in the right direction and getting to play alongside former Villanova teammates Josh Hart, Donte DiVincenzo and soon Mikal Bridges.
Brunson’s life took another giant leap in the right direction recently as he witnessed the birth of his daughter, Jordyn James Brunson, and took to Instagram to celebrate the unforgettable moment, via ClutchPoints.

With a newborn being added to the family, and the Knicks reloading with Bridges in a trade with the Brooklyn Nets, life is good for Brunson right now, as he might be able to add an NBA title to his accomplishments in the near future.
The Knicks will have some stiff competition in the Eastern Conference going up against the defending NBA champion Boston Celtics and new-look Philadelphia 76ers, but Brunson and company might be up for the task during the 2024-25 campaign.
