Graham Potter suffered another huge blow as West Ham were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by a 3-2 defeat away to Wolves on Tuesday night.
Goals from Tomas Soucek and Lucas Paqueta had fired the visitors into a second-half lead, only for them to shwo their frailties yet again, as Jorgen Strand Larsen came off the bench to net a quickfire double for Wolves in the final embers.
Potter is under sustained pressure at West Ham, and he will have been hugely frustrated to see his squad squander an excellent opportunity to begin to lift the mood in E20.
Instead, it became yet another worrying night for the Hammers, and their recent struggles now appear to affecting people elsewhere in the squad.
Jarrod Bowen rips off captain’s armband after West Ham defeat
Jarrod Bowen is one of few West Ham players to have any credit left after their dismal start to the season, with the club captain having dragged his side out of several holes in the last few years.
The skipper is adored by the Hammers faithful, but was seen ripping off the captain’s armband after the defeat to Wolves following an alteraction with a fan.
Bowen and his teammates headed over to applaud the travelling fans after the game, and the attacker seemingly took offence to something that was shouted from the stands.
The England international eventually turned away from his side’s supporters, and pulled the captain’s armband off his arm as he trudged back across the pitch towards the dressing room.

Jarrod Bowen discourse is a huge concern for Graham Potter
Bowen’s frustration will be a huge concern for Potter, given the almost universal adoration that he receives from the club’s supporters.
As the club captain, he finds himself at the centre of the current squad, and alarm bells will surely be ringing for Potter after watching an incident like this play out.
The outside noise is one thing, but with frustrations now seemingly creeping in within the squad in E20, it feels as though Potter’s situation could be growing increasingly more grave.
Tonight could have marked the start of a redemption for the boss, and instead it looks like it could be the beginning of the end.
For the club captain to have reacted in that way is a clear indication of the atmosphere within the team, and it looks as though it will only end in one way for Potter.
