NFL information broker Benjamin Allbright posted on social media that he knew the Buffalo Bills called the New York Jets ahead of the 2025 NFL trade deadline.
On “Boy Green Daily,” I asked him if he could share any additional intel.
“Oh, they were sniffing out Garrett Wilson. It wasn’t going to be close. It was a heat check. I know that they called, just like they called the [Washington] Commanders about their wide receiver room and possibly bringing in a defensive end back. The Bills were dialing around just to get a heat check on some things. Hey, if the right just happens to pop out of somebody’s mouth, maybe we can make a deal. The Jets made it very clear that they were not moving Garrett Wilson, and that was pretty much that,” Allbright explained to me.
Wilson Deemed ‘Untouchable’ by Jets Front Office Amid Trade Deadline
When the Jets traded former two-time first-team All-Pro corner Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts, the rest of the league thought it was open season.
“Spoke to a team that called the Jets recently about WR Garrett Wilson. With Sauce Gardner dealt, feeling around the NFL is [that] anyone can be had. Not the case with Wilson. Conversations did not progress. He’s untouchable,” NFL Insider Connor Hughes of SNY explained.

Hughes provided more details on that situation on “Jets Final Drive.”
“I talked to a team that called on Garrett Wilson. So they checked in on Garrett Wilson a week ago, I was told. They were told he is untouchable. We are not trading Garrett Wilson; 0% chance Garrett Wilson is getting traded. After the Jets traded Sauce Gardner, this [same] team again called the Jets because once Sauce was gone, all bets were off, and every team around the NFL looked at this and said everybody is available for the Jets. We can go get whoever we want as long as we’re willing to pony up. So this team called the Jets to try to get through and get Garrett Wilson. I was told the Jets did not answer the phone. So the phone was not even answered on a secondary follow-up on Garrett Wilson. So he was a complete and total untouchable,” Hughes said.
What in the World…
The former Ohio State product was off limits.
That makes total sense. Wilson, 25, is a star wide receiver. The Jets’ goal is to find the next franchise quarterback, and that player would directly benefit from Wilson’s presence.
However, if the Jets ever decided, for whatever reason, that Wilson was suddenly available in trade talks, why would they ever trade him inside the division?
Post-NFL trade deadline, NFL Insider Dianna Russini revealed that “AFC East teams” called the Jets about “potential deals, but New York was reluctant to trade with division rivals.”

As they should be.
Wilson is an awesome player. If the Jets ever made him available, there would be no shortage of suitors. Trading him inside the division would mean they would have to face him twice a year, every year, for the foreseeable future. If Wilson dominates with that divisional rival, the Jets would never hear the end of it.
Welcome to the Salty Spitoon
Bills general manager Brandon Beane went viral on social media for his comments post-NFL trade deadline.
“I think there is definitely a faction of the GMs who are coming in younger, and there are more who have played fantasy football and stuff like that. They’re growing up in a world of trades,” Beane said.
🚨THIS IS WILD🚨#Bills GM Brandon Beane blames the new young GMs for all the trades at the deadline because they played Madden and fantasy football.

“Believe me, I went home as mad as any other fan. Like I wanted to do things. I am always wanting to do things to make this team better … I can not force someone to trade me a player,” Beane continued.

Allbright told me on “Boy Green Daily” that Beane was referring to Jets general manager Darren Mougey with his “fantasy football trade” comments.
“I wouldn’t take that personally, necessarily. That is more of him grousing about not being able to rip somebody else off, right?” Allbright says with a laugh. “At the end of the day, that’s what you do as a general manager, you gotta go out there and public relations it up to your fan base too. I wouldn’t take that personally if I were Jets fans. That is not chips on the fire, that is him, you know, saving face, ‘Wel,l I couldn’t rip anybody off, alright next year.’”
