JJ Redick Breaks Silence About Lakers Coaching Speculation

The Los Angeles Lakers continue their pursuit of a new coach.

However, the worst-kept secret around the league is that they’ve already made up their mind about their next guy.

JJ Redick has reportedly been the leading candidate for quite a while now, with Shams Charania of The Athletic all but confirming that report.

With that in mind, Mike Golic and Mike Golic Jr. reached out to the former sharpshooter to ask him whether those rumors were true.

In his recent appearance on GoJo and Golic, Redick claimed that, as of now, his focus was solely on the NBA Finals.

He claimed that he was honored to be in the position of commentator and analyst for the NBA Finals, and between that, his podcasts, and all the business obligations with his partners, his days have been kind of crazy right now.

As for the report by Shams, he claimed that he would address it once the season is over.

And while he didn’t specifically talk about what he meant by that, he did address Shams specifically, so it seems like there could be something to that.

It wouldn’t be the first time that a player, whether current or former, has called out Charania, who has a tendency to break news long before it’s been confirmed.

Even so, Charania is one of the best-connected figures in the league and is rarely mistaken, so it’ll be interesting to see what Redick has to say about him.

Given the platform he has and his personality, this could be interesting.
