The Green Bay Packers are 11-6 and headed to the NFL Playoffs and a matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card Round. Unfortunately, they are not going in with the momentum they hoped they would have. Last week, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur decided that he would play his starters against the Chicago Bears so that they could get off to a fast start and build confidence going into the postseason.
As fans know all too well, though, that did not happen. Green Bay’s 11-game winning streak over Chicago was snapped in their 24-22 loss, the first loss to the Bears since LaFleur was hired in 2019.
What is worse, the Packers also lost wide receiver Christian Watson, who suffered a non-contact knee injury in the second quarter. On Monday, it was revealed that he had torn his ACL and will, obviously, miss the NFL Playoffs and probably the start of the 2025 NFL season.
Green Bay Packers Quarterback Jordan Love Got Hurt Too
Packers quarterback Jordan Love, too, was injured in the second quarter of the loss the Chicago. On a play in which he was under duress, he was taken down to the ground after releasing a pass. At first, many believed that he had injured his throwing hand.
However, it was revealed after halftime that he had suffered an elbow injury. After the game, LaFleur said that his quarterback took a blow to the elbow that hit a nerve, and that he could not really feel the back of his hand.
However, he also said that Love would be okay and likely able to play against the Eagles on Sunday.
Green Bay Packers Quarterback Jordan Love Addresses His Elbow Injury
Love, who has missed time this year with a sprained MCL and groin injury, has certainly been banged up this season. However, he does not feel like this latest incident will keep him out of the game on Sunday, nor will it affect his performance.
In his postgame press conference, Love said, “(The doctor) said it should (go away). Not sure when, but it’s feeling better.”
When asked if he could have gone back in the game at some point had it been a “must-win,” Love replied, “By the time I was feeling my hand again, I would definitely try to get out there. It just comes down to if I can throw or not, grip the ball, things like that. Once some of the feel was starting to come back, I would try to push it, for sure.”
The fact that they will have their starting quarterback available is great news for Green Bay, who will obviously be without Watson.
