Kendrick Perkins Rips Steve Kerr Over Jayson Tatum ‘Disrespect’

Unfortunately, Team USA’s dominant win over Serbia in their Olympic opener was overshadowed by the fact that Jayson Tatum was a healthy DNP. More than a few fans out there cannot fathom the fact that the best player on the best team in the NBA couldn’t even get a single minute of action against Serbia.

Naturally, the pitchforks have been aimed at the direction of head coach Steve Kerr. ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins has now decided to jump on the bandwagon.

Team USA: Kendrick Perkins Blasts Steve Kerr

Much like the majority of basketball fans out there, Perkins simply cannot comprehend how Tatum managed zero minutes in Kerr’s rotation against Serbia. So much so, that the former NBA big man had to call out the Golden State Warriors coach for what Big Perk believes to be a disrespectful act against Tatum.

“Tatum is a versatile player,” Perkins said. “… He’s 6’9” with a versatile package on both ends of the floor.

“… If you’re Steve Kerr, … you know what Tatum is going to bring to the table. You do not disrespect him and embarrass him the way that you did. Because in this world today, we live in a world of social media. We can’t run from it, we can’t hide from it.”

Perkins went on to argue that Tatum’s brand took a major hit because of Kerr’s decision to bench him. The man has a point.

Perkins isn’t the first pundit who has called Kerr out for his decision on Tatum, and you can be sure that Big Perk won’t be the last.
