The Las Vegas Raiders have been looking for a franchise quarterback for years. Unfortunately, they’re still in that predicament as they continue to struggle through the 2024 NFL season.
At this point in the year, the Raiders hold a brutal 2-8 record. In a year that they were supposed to take a leap back into playoff contention under head coach Antonio Pierce, things have only gotten worse.
Looking ahead to the future, Las Vegas is going to have to get aggressive if they want to turn things around. Pulling off a big move for a proven quarterback or drafting an elite young signal caller should be something the Raiders target this offseason.
With that in mind, one potential trade option has started making some noise.
Las Vegas Raiders Emerging As Dak Prescott Trade Destination For 2025
So far this season, the Dallas Cowboys have struggled just as badly as the Las Vegas Raiders have. They are just 3-7 heading into Week 12 and Jerry Jones could very well end up making sweeping changes to the roster and coaching staff when the season ends.
If he makes Dak Prescott available in trade discussions, the Raiders are being viewed as a team that could capitalize and acquire a surefire franchise quarterback.
Lou Scataglia of NFL Spin Zone has named Las Vegas as one of the top trade destinations for Prescott if the Cowboys choose to move him.
“The Raiders should try to draft and develop, but they may not want to wait that long. Honestly, could they swing a trade for Prescott and perhaps try to draft a mid-round rookie in 2025 to develop behind the scenes? Vegas’ GM, Tom Telesco, drafted Justin Herbert back in 2020, so perhaps he isn’t even considering the idea of trading for Dak Prescott if he became available, but the need is there.”
Obviously, a trade for Prescott is not “likely” at this point in time. Dallas deciding to trade Prescott after just signing him to a massive contract extension would be a bit of a shock.
However, if the Cowboys do open up to the idea, the Las Vegas Raiders are absolutely one of the teams that should have interest.
All of that being said, it will be very interesting to see what the Raiders end up doing at the quarterback position moving forward.
