Las Vegas Raiders Wide Receiver Davante Adams Reveals True Feelings Regarding Trade Rumors

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams is one of the best players at his position in the NFL. It is highly likely that he will be a Pro Football Hall of Famer when his career is all said and done. Unfortunately, most of the news involving his name lately has been in the form of trade rumors rather than the quality of his play.

For what it is worth, the trade rumors involving Adams have not come from anything he has said to the media since the season ended. While other wide receivers like CeeDee Lamb and Brandon Aiyuk are holding out/in or requesting trades, Adams has attempted to quietly go about his business preparing for the 2024 NFL season.

Instead, the trade rumors have been pushed because of comments Adams made during a game last season that happened to be recorded on video and shown to the world via the Netflix documentary “Receiver.”

Las Vegas Raiders Wide Receiver Davante Adams Was Not Happy Last Season

To say that things did not work out the way Adams might have envisioned them when he was first traded to the Raiders from the Green Bay Packers would be an understatement. Of course, one of the biggest reasons why Adams wanted to go to Las Vegas in the first place was to play with Derek Carr, who was his quarterback in college.
While he had a stellar first season with the Raiders, catching 100 passes for 1,516 yards and an NFL-leading 14 touchdowns, Las Vegas benched Carr before the year even ended and then released him when it was over. Adams recently told Shannon Sharpe that he probably would not have asked to be traded to the Raiders if Carr had not been there, so the decision was very disappointing to him.

Last season, Adams got Jimmy Garoppolo as his quarterback, another development that made him unhappy. The Netflix series revealed that the All-Pro wide receiver was a driving force behind the quarterback’s benching. Garoppolo is now playing for the Los Angeles Rams, so one can easily deduce that the Raiders prioritized their star wide receiver’s opinion.

Not only has Adams not said anything publicly about wanting to be traded, but he has also stated on multiple occasions that he is happy in Las Vegas. However, the media continues to suggest trades that may reunite him with his former Packers teammate, Aaron Rodgers.
When asked about the continued trade rumors, Adams told CBS Sports, “It was extremely annoying, still is. I mean, it’s definitely not over as far as how people continue to speak on it.” He continued, “But you know what, the offseason is boring so they need things to talk about. And unfortunately, with the dramas that we have, talking about one seven [his jersey] gets some clicks. So they take advantage of that to kind of, get people’s attention.”

Rodgers, too, expressed his annoyance with the constant trade rumors that involve the two of them reuniting. “Silly” is the word he used to describe them.

The four-time NFL MVP suggested that the next time the two of them play together might be in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, where flag football will be one of the competitions.
