Leeds United have identified Brendan Rodgers as their top target to replace Daniel Farke, according to reports.
The Elland Road side are reportedly considering the former Celtic boss as they look to steady the ship following a disappointing run of Premier League results.
Leeds have lost six of their last seven games, including a 2-1 defeat at home against Aston Villa on Sunday, which has dropped them into the relegation zone for the first time this season.
As a result, Leeds are reportedly seriously considering Farke’s future at the club, with the German tactician said to be ‘at serious risk’ of losing his job.
Brendan Rodgers Tops Leeds Shortlist
According to report, Rodgers is at the top of Leeds’ shortlist of candidates to replace Farke mid-season, and there is a belief the former Celtic boss would be interested in taking charge at Elland Road.
Rodgers resigned from his duties at Celtic earlier this month, ending his second stint at Parkhead, during which he lifted two Scottish Premiership titles.
The 52-year-old left his role amid accusations from major shareholder Dermot Desmond of “divisive, misleading, and self-serving” behaviour and was replaced by interim boss Martin O’Neill.
Over his two stints at Celtic, Rodgers lifted 11 major titles and oversaw 292 games, winning 201 and averaging 2.22 points per match.
The Northern Irish tactician last managed in the Premier League with Leicester, where he oversaw more than 200 games in charge before being sacked in April 2023, with the club sitting in the relegation zone.
Rodgers’ Premier League Record
Rodgers would bring 10 years of Premier League experience to Elland Road, having managed Swansea, Liverpool and Leicester during his time in the top flight.
Under the 52-year-old, Liverpool finished second in the 2013/14 season, two points behind winners Manchester City, and registered another two top-seven finishes.
After taking charge of Leicester in 2019, Rodgers guided the Foxes to four consecutive top-10 finishes in the Premier League, including back-to-back fifth-place results in 2019/20 and 2020/21.
The Northern Irishman has overseen a total of 312 Premier League games as a manager, winning 139 and averaging 1.56 points per match.
Leeds Face Gruelling Scheduleeueu
Over their next three games, Leeds face arguably the most difficult run of fixtures among all Premier League teams.
Farke’s side take on Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool, and will be looking to secure their first points since the 2-1 victory over West Ham in October.
