Leeds United are a fabulous team and will finish in top two – but we can shock them:Luke Williams

Leeds United will be promoted to the Premier League come the end of the season, according the man who is plotting their downfall this weekend.

Swansea City boss Luke Williams is a huge admirer of what Daniel Farke is building at Elland Road and knows his side face a huge challenge in Sunday’s Championship clash between the two sides at the Liberty Stadium. Williams has seen his side struggle in front of goal this season, but has taken encouragement from some recent positive results.

Wins over Luton and Watford have improved their league position, while they have been pipped 1-0 by promotion candidates Burnley, Sheffield United, Millwall and West Bromwich Albion. Leeds, however, are a different matter, with Williams impressed by Farke’s side impressive stats – and performances on the pitch.

“Leeds are an absolutely fabulous team to be quite honest at this level,” Williams said. “If you don’t look at the images of the team on the screen, and you just look at the stats and the data, they are incredible. Then if you actually open your eyes and watch them, you realise they are incredible.

“We know what we’re up against, but I think we’ve competed this season against top sides in the division better than we did last season. So we have to take some confidence from that, be brave and try make a really good performance at home where we’ve been pretty good.

“This is going to be the ultimately challenge. We’re going to have to be immaculate defensively and ruthless at the other end to have a chance of being really competitive. I think they will finish in the top two and I don’t say that like there aren’t other excellent sides.”

Daniel Farke will have Max Wober and Brenden Aaronson available to him after they returned from international duty with Austria and the USA respectively, but Junior Firpo, Ilia Gruev, Ethan Ampadu and Isaac Schmidt remain sidelines, with Largie Ramazani a doubt.
