Lions Announce 4 Roster Moves

Heading into the 2023 NFL season, the Detroit Lions had high expectations for the first time in a very long time, perhaps going all the way back to when Hall of Famer Barry Sanders was in his prime with the team.

Even back when Sanders was playing, the hype wasn’t as long as it has been since head coach Dan Campbell turned things around for the struggling franchise with veteran quarterback Jared Goff leading the way.

Fortunately for the Lions, Detroit was able to live up to and exceed those expectations, with Goff and company reaching the NFC Championship Game but falling just short of a trip to the Super Bowl with the San Francisco 49ers having a stellar second half to get the win and advance.

With the Lions coming one win away from reaching the Super Bowl, Detroit will once again be a team with high expectations heading into next season, as many will predict that this team can go the distance and win it all or, at the very least, reach the big game in February.

On Sunday, the Lions announced a few roster moves as training camp gets underway ahead of the 2024 campaign, with three players placed on the PUP list and one on the NFI list, according to the team’s Twitter account.

“Placed DB Brian Branch, OLB Marcus Davenport, and DL DJ Reader on Active/PUP. Placed OL Giovanni Manu on Active/NFI,” the Lions announced.

At this point in time, there’s nothing to be terribly concerned about for the Lions heading into training camp without these players being ready to go, but Campbell and company will monitor this from here on out.

If the Lions can start the 2024 NFL season healthy and motivated, it could be another solid year for Detroit.
