Lucas Paqueta to push for West Ham United exit as transfer stance emerges

Lucas Paqueta is set to push for a move away from West Ham United this summer to rejoin Flamengo in Brazil, according to Vene Casagrande.

Writing on his personal X account (5 July), the Brazilian journalist reports that the Hammers have told all interested parties that they have no intention of negotiating for the midfielder either on a loan deal or a permanent transfer.

But Paqueta wants to leave as he faces a lengthy ban from football for betting charges, and plans to “assert his will” on West Ham to try and push through a move this summer.

“West Ham has informed Flamengo and other clubs interested in Paquetá that it does not want to negotiate the midfielder, either on loan or permanently,” he wrote.

“The player, on the other hand, will try to assert his will.”

West Ham United must consider all options for Lucas Paqueta

It’s not ideal, but there is a very real chance that Paqueta gets moved on this summer despite the club’s will to keep hold of him.

The Brazilian playmaker is facing some very serious charges and with a hearing not scheduled for several months [The Sun, 4 June], there is a chance he is able to play for the team in the first part of the season which would be a huge help to Julen Lopetegui.

But if he isn’t interested in being here anymore then you can imagine that his heart won’t be in it and his performance levels will drop, which means he become a hindrance rather than a help.

A loan makes little to no sense, which explains why they rejected an offer already [Fabrizio Romano, 3 July], but a permanent sale could see the club recoup some money for him before he’s potentially banned and loses all his value.

It should be considered at the very least for the right fee, and with Paqueta obviously keen to push it through too it may sway Tim Steidten to strike a deal and help the club in the long run.

In other West Ham news, a major update on Mohammed Kudus’ release clause has emerged.
