Malik Monk Stays with Sacramento Kings with MASSIVE 4-Year Deal

The Sacramento Kings may have barely missed the cut in this year’s NBA playoffs, but the future is still bright for the team. Thanks to De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis, the team is more than ready to duke it out with the rest of the Western Conference to mount a serious title run next season.

Malik Monk has been one of the most pleasantly surprising players to break out for Mike Brown’s Kings over the past two years. The guard had multiple stops before landing in Sacramento, and many believed he wouldn’t transform into the player he is today after unsuccessful stops in Charlotte and Los Angeles.

However, his chemistry with the roster turned him from a decent role player into a solid sixth man who caused plenty of problems for opposing second units. He’s now a respected name among NBA circles for his solid offensive power.

One of the biggest questions fans and analysts had for the Kings in the coming offseason was whether they would be able to retain Monk’s services beyond the season.

Plenty of teams are always on the prowl for outstanding sixth men who can lead their units, and Monk probably would have gotten a good payday from teams who are desperate for his services.

Kings fans didn’t need to worry about him leaving, though: he recently signed a deal that will keep him in California’s capital city for longer.

Sacramento Kings sign Malik Monk for 4 years, $78 million

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Monk agreed to a four-year deal with the Kings where he will get a total of $78 million.

Die-hard Kings fans who love his play will argue that the deal is a steal considering the value Monk brings to the Kings whenever he comes off the bench. He played 72 regular-season games for the Kings last season, averaging 15.4 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists while shooting 44.3% on the floor and 35.0% from deep.

Now that the Sacramento Kings secured Monk, they can now focus on finding players through the draft and free agency that can bolster the team and help them make an improbable run to the Finals.
