The Massive Impact of Trevor Lawrence’s $275,000,000 Deal on Jordan Love Contract Talks, Revealed

The Jacksonville Jaguars have made their position on cornerstone quarterback Trevor Lawrence abundantly clear. However, by signing their star to a massive $275 million extension, this new deal is now expected to impact the quarterback market throughout the league.

According to league insider Adam Schefter of the NFL Network, this includes Jordan Love and his current contract situation with the Packers.

Jordan Love Will Be Seeking Similar Contract to Trevor Lawrence

Love is entering the final year of his current deal. The Packers will obviously want to get a deal done sooner rather than later as they want to avoid catastrophically losing Love via unrestricted free agency next summer.

For his part, however, Love’s camp will reportedly be using Lawrence’s new deal as a benchmark as they negotiate a contract extension with the Packers:

“The latest factor that influences the discussions is the deal that Trevor Lawrence gets done with the Jacksonville Jaguars,” Schefter said (h/t Kameron Duncan of The Spun).

“That deal doesn’t help Green Bay, that deal helps Jordan Love. Because the average comes in at $55 million and, breaking news, I don’t believe Jordan Love is taking less than Trevor Lawrence, just don’t think he’s doing it.”

This makes a lot of sense. Love is coming off a breakout campaign, and more than a few folks out there will agree with the notion that he brings more to the table for Green Bay than Lawrence does for Jacksonville.

For their part, the Packers have the Jaguars to thank for potentially putting them in a weaker negotiating position after deciding to give Lawrence the bag.
