Matheus Cunha has suffered an accident while training with Manchester United, as per reports. The Brazilian forward recently returned from international duty to join Ruben Amorim and his team-mates to prepare for the side’s upcoming clash with Everton, which is set to take place at Old Trafford on Monday evening.
However, it has now emerged that Cunha has suffered an accident on the training ground. The 26-year-old was set to turn on the Christmas lights in Altrincham on Saturday evening, but VisitAltrincham broke the news that the player would no longer be able to attend due to ‘medical reasons.’

It comes as most of the Manchester United squad returned to Carrington this week after a two-week international break for the final round of World Cup qualifiers.
However, a number of stars were absent, including Benjamin Sesko, Harry Maguire and Kobbie Mainoo – each of whom are recovering from respective injuries. It comes as United look to climb the Premier League standings when they play host to a rejuvenated Toffees side under the tutelage of David Moyes on Monday.
The Reds head into the fixture unbeaten in their last five outings, as a result of wins over Sunderland, Liverpool and Brighton, as well as draws against Nottingham Forest and Tottenham. At the time of writing, the club sit 10th in the Premier League standings after 11 matches, just eight points shy of table toppers, Arsenal.
However, Amorim a number of injuries to navigate headed into his side’s clash with Everton on Monday evening. Sesko picked up a knee injury during United’s match against Spurs ahead of the international break, and is not expected to return until December as a result.

Maguire was also replaced during the same encounter as a result of a hamstring issue, with Amorim admitting that he “is not ready” in time for his club’s upcoming match.
Mainoo, meanwhile, missed out on the Reds’ game with Spurs altogether as a result of a knock, although he could potentially feature at the Theatre of Dreams come Monday dependent on his recovery.
Elsewhere, Lisandro Martinez could also make his long-awaited return to Premier League football against the Toffees. The Argentinian centre-half suffered an ACL injury back in February which has kept him side-lined for the best part of 2025, although he is reportedly nearing a return to full fitness.
The 27-year-old returned to full training ahead of the international break, although Amorim opted against playing him immediately. While he failed to receive a call-up for his nation, Martinez did link up with Argentina to train and continue his road to full fitness during the break.
