Matt Poitras a ‘possibility’ to make season debut with Bruins on Saturday

Poitras, 20, who has been out with an undisclosed injury, could play at home
against the Kings.

Boston Bruins forward Matthew Poitras has yet to make his season debut for the Original Six club, as he is dealing with an injury. However, it now appears that this has the potential to change very soon.

Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery’s latest update on Poitras is incredibly encouraging. Here is what he had to say to reporters earlier today about the Bruins’ young center:

“He’s very close. He’s progressing in the right way. I’ve got to say he’s a possibility for tomorrow. We just have to see how he responds later today.”

Hearing from Montgomery that there is a legitimate chance that Poitras will play against the Kings is very encouraging. The young forward is expected to be a valuable member of the Bruins’ forward group this season and has a real shot at hitting a new level offensively.

At today’s practice, Poitras centered the third line with Trent Frederic and Justin Brazeau. If he is cleared to go and the Bruins end up using this trio against the Kings, Riley Tufte would be the odd man out of the lineup.
