Mike Budenholzer Says 1 Offseason Addition Will ‘Fit Really Well With Us’

After acquiring Bradley Beal ahead of last season, the Phoenix Suns were thought to have reloaded after parting ways with veteran point guard Chris Paul and would have one of the most intimidating star trios in the league with the veteran newcomer joining forces with Kevin Durant and Devin Booker.

Unfortunately for Phoenix, the trio really never got going as injuries became a persistent problem for the Suns, resulting in the team failing to live up to expectations with one of the highest payrolls in the NBA.

The Suns headed into the NBA playoffs with high hopes of taking advantage of a young and inexperienced Minnesota Timberwolves squad led by Anthony Edwards, but the opposite happened, as the upstart T’Wolves wiped the floor with Durant and company in four games.

The sweep was embarrassing for the Suns, which immediately resulted in the dismal of head coach Frank Vogel and many questions heading into the NBA offseason.

It didn’t take long before the team hired one-time NBA champion Mike Budenholzer to be Vogel’s successor and began trying to improve the roster, with guard Monte Morris being one of the latest additions, which the new head coach talked about at the NBA Summer League recently via Duane Rankin of AZ Central.

“I think Monte is going to fit really well with us,” Budenholzer said.

Obviously, Morris isn’t a potential game-changer for the Suns, as he only provides a bit of depth for this team behind Booker, Grayson Allen and Beal.

It’ll be interesting to see what the Suns can accomplish during the 2024-25 campaign, as the pressure is mounting in Phoenix to provide results.
