Nottingham Forest have one final week in this summer’s transfer window to add a new striker to their squad.
Nuno Espirito Santo could have done with some extra firepower on the weekend to help Forest over the line in their season opener against Bournemouth.
Chris Wood was able to pick up from where he left off in the 2023/24 campaign as he got his account up and running for the term.
However, the Reds were unable to make their dominance count in the first half and were left rueing their missed opportunities.
But with one week remaining in the transfer window, there is one player who Forest are looking to bring in to the club.
Forest have already agreed personal terms with Eddie Nketiah and now his Arsenal manager has commented on his future.
What Mikel Arteta said about Eddie Nketiah’s future after Forest development
Although Forest have made a big step forward in their pursuit of Nketiah, a potential deal is still in the region where the striker is still needed to represent his current club.
And Arsenal have a game on the weekend against Aston Villa with the north Londoners set to train today ahead of the game.
Mikel Arteta has spoken to the media ahead of the game and even commented on where Nketiah’s future lies ahead of next week’s deadline.
Speaking from London Colney, Arteta has admitted that Nketiah is expected to train with them on Friday but his future could well be away from north London.
“I expect Eddie to train with us today,” Arteta told the media.

I expect Eddie to train with us today. To be prepared for tomorrow. Whatever happens will happen if it’s good for everybody.— Kaya Kaynak (@kayakaynak97) August 23, 2024

Nottingham Forest still keeping tabs on Santiago Gimenez
Although the Reds are seemingly keen to bring in Nketiah and Arsenal are also open to his exit, nothing is certain in the transfer window.
Another striker who Forest have enquired about is Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez.
It has even been claimed by Fabrizio Romano that Forest are continuing to keep tabs on Gimenez this summer despite their developments with Nketiah.
Clearly, another striker is what Evangelos Marinakis wants out of the remaining week of the window and Forest are now battling the clock to get a deal completed.
