The Minnesota Timberwolves have come a long way in the past few seasons, as they’re now one of the top teams in the Western Conference, and they have the duo of Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards to largely thank for that.
Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards have been teammates for the past four seasons. But because Edwards has established himself as the Minnesota Timberwolves alpha dog, some can’t help but wonder how Towns feels about no longer being the main star.
Towns revealed on the Podcast P show that he is the biggest Edwards fan, and the nine-year veteran is more than happy to have the Team USA star as his teammate.
“I feel it’s weird the media try to make it seem like I don’t want (Anthony Edwards) to succeed,” Towns said. “I’m the biggest Ant cheerleader I can be, the biggest fan. I want to see him win. I want to see him grow to be the face of the NBA. We just want to see each other win like big bro lil bro. I want to see him win more than even me.”
Minnesota Timberwolves outlook for 2024-25
In his ninth NBA season, Karl-Anthony Towns averaged 21.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 3.0 assists on 50.4 percent shooting in 62 regular season games.
Anthony Edwards, meanwhile, averaged 25.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 1.3 steals in 79 regular season games in 2023-24.
This summer, the Minnesota Timberwolves re-signed Luka Garza on a two-year deal , and they’ve added PJ Dozier and Joe Ingles in free agency.
The Minnesota Timberwolves are expected to remain one of the top contenders in the Western Conference, as they’re fresh from their first Conference Finals appearance since 2004.
