The Minnesota Vikings made the decision to make a bold trade in the 2024 NFL Draft in order to select pass-rusher Dallas Turner. It was a move that excited the fan base, especially after losing Danielle Hunter in NFL free agency.
Turner, who was widely viewed as an elite pass-rusher, was not expected to drop to No. 17 by many. Now, he’ll look to make the teams that passed on him regret their decision.
So far, he has been turning heads early on during offseason activities. It seems that he has a very bright future ahead of him with the Minnesota Vikings.
Minnesota Vikings Receive Shockingly Good Update On Dallas Turner
According to ESPN’s Kevin Seifert, via a quote from offensive lineman Christian Darrisaw, Turner is already pulling off insane pass-rush moves.
Darrisaw has been extremely impressed by Turner and did not hold back about what the rookie has been showcasing so far.
Here is what Seifert had to say about the revelation from Darrisaw.
“The most notable moment came in a practice that was closed to reporters but was recounted by left tackle Christian Darrisaw. As Darrisaw described it, Turner put a spin move on another offensive lineman that was quicker than any of them had seen from four-time Pro Bowl pass-rusher Danielle Hunter, who recorded 87.5 sacks in eight seasons with the Vikings before signing a free agent contract with the Texans this spring.”
Turner is coming off of a big-time season for the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2023. He racked up 53 total tackles to go along with 10 sacks, 14.5 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, and a defended pass.
Those numbers are sounding likely to translate to the NFL. If the update that Darrisaw provided turns out to be true in the regular season, he could be an immediate rising star. Turner had that kind of reputation and potential coming into the draft.
