The Pittsburgh Steelers have revealed the new numbers for all their signings to the practice squad and active roster on their website. In two number changes, slot cornerback Beanie Bishop will wear No. 31, while rookie Logan Lee will wear No. 91. Both players had duplicate numbers that would have to be changed before the start of the regular season.
No. 31 was worn by defensive back Zyon Gilbert and running back Daijun Edwards in the preseason. Meanwhile, No. 91 was worn by Jonathan Marshall and Marquiss Spencer.
The new practice squad signings all have new numbers. New wide receivers Brandon Johnson and Ben Skowronek will wear Nos. 89 and 15, respectively. Jacob Copeland wore No. 89 for most of the preseason but was not re-signed to the practice squad. Quez Watkins, who was with the team for all of training camp, keeps his No. 16.
Their newest signing, Ayo Oyelola, will wear No. 17. Meanwhile, Gilbert is switching his number to No. 42. Returning offensive lineman John Leglue will wear No. 68, while West Virginia alum Doug Nester will wear No. 72. Both of these numbers were used during training camp, but will now belong to those players.
Outside linebacker Ade Ogundeji will wear No. 48, while new running back Boston Scott will wear No. 33. No. 33 was worn by running back Aaron Shampklin for most of training camp. Finally, new inside linebacker Devin Harper will wear No. 40, which was worn by Luquay Washington and Tyler Murray at inside linebacker throughout training camp.
