The New Orleans Saints’ 44-19 blowout of the Dallas Cowboys was one of the talking points of Week 2.
So, too, was Derek Carr’s Michael Jackson-esque end zone celebration after scoring a one-yard rushing touchdown with under a minute remaining in the first half on Sunday.
Four days after the game, the NFL league office has reviewed the footage and hit the Pro Bowl quarterback with a hefty $14,000 fine for his actions.
“Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the NFL has fined Saints quarterback Derek Carr $14,000 for a touchdown celebration against the Cowboys that mimicked a Michael Jackson dance move, including the customary crotch grab,” Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio reported on Thursday.

The officiating crew did not penalize Carr on the field for his celebration of choice.
“Of all guys to get fined for it,” Florio added, “squeaky clean Derek Carr. It’s both funny and sad. It’s the No Fun League, in full display.”
Now in his second season with the Saints, Carr is flourishing under new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak through two games. The 33-year-old has completed 30-of-39 pass attempts for 443 yards, five touchdowns and one interception.
He currently leads the NFL in passing touchdowns (five), passing yards per attempt (11.4), quarterback rating (96.2) and passer rating (142.4).
Carr and the undefeated Saints are set to host the Philadelphia Eagles (1-1) in Week 3.
