Nottingham Forest release transfer statement as international agrees deal

Nottingham Forest have completed more summer transfer window business, confirming another departure from the City Ground.

Marko Stamenic has left the Reds to join Championship club Swansea City on a permanent deal.

He joined Forest from Red Star Belgrade last summer but never played for the club, spending last season on loan at Olympiacos.

The club confirmed his exit in a statement, which read: “Nottingham Forest can confirm Marko Stamenic has left the club, joining Swansea City on a permanent transfer.

“Stamenic signed for Forest from Red Star Belgrade in 2024 and went on loan to Olympiacos. The midfielder played 23 times for the Greek side, including four appearances in the Europa League.

“The 22-year-old earned his senior international debut for New Zealand in October 2021 and is a regular for his national team, playing 29 times and helping them qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

“Having been part of the Forest squad for much of pre-season, Stamenic now heads to Wales to join Alan Sheehan’s side in the Championship.

“Everyone at Nottingham Forest wishes Marko the very best for the next chapter of his career.”
