Nuno Espirito Santo shares very honest Edu Gaspar answer in Nottingham Forest press conference

Nottingham Forest have shown some encouraging signs of progression on the pitch already this season.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have been able to climb all the way up into third spot of the Premier League table after the opening 10 games.

Chris Wood has been named Premier League Player of the Month for October on the back of his stunning form.

But it is not just on the pitch where the Reds are making positive moves following an encouraging summer in the transfer market.

Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has made upgrades to the City Ground recently and it seems he’s looking to do the same at board level.

Arsenal’s now former sporting director Edu Gaspar is being targeted by Marinakis to become one of the chiefs in his portfolio of clubs.

Nuno Espirito Santo reacts to Edu Gaspar rumours at Nottingham Forest

Speaking to the media on Friday, Nuno has spoken about the rumours which have circulated recently about Edu’s potential appointment.

Usually, managers will look to avoid questions on potential arrivals during the transfer windows but Nuno spoke openly about the former Arsenal director.

“Good, because starting from the owner the ambition to grow and improve the club makes us all aware that we have to give our best,” Nuno said on Marinakis’ ambition to hire someone like Edu.

“Starting from us on the pitch, the players, the staff working for the players. Creating the environment the best they can so they can deliver on the pitch.

“The ambition is good. Demanding is good but it cannot get us away from our track. So I insist we have to remain humble and realise we haven’t achieved nothing [yet]. Having this desire to improve is what moves us forward.”

Forest have difficult fixtures coming up

Sunday’s game against Newcastle United is not going to be a stroll in the park by any means with the Toon having just beaten Arsenal on the weekend.

However, Forest will surely be hoping for three big points with some seriously tricky fixtures coming up over the coming month.

These upcoming fixtures could see a massive blow to Forest’s fine start to the season but there is still plenty of cause for optimism.

Chris Sutton has been wowed by Forest who have already shown they are capable of beating the likes of Liverpool.

And other clubs such as Bournemouth have now shown it is possible to take all three points off Manchester City this season.
