Nottingham Forest will undoubtedly try and offload some players during the summer transfer window, with the squad size evident yesterday.
Forest took on Chesterfield in their maiden friendly of 2024/25, running out 3-0 winners with Chris Wood, Josh Bowler and Ibrahim Sangare scoring the goals.
The Reds played two different teams in each half with 22 players on show during the game against League Two opposition.
One of the players who got a 45-minute run out was club captain Joe Worrall who donned a Forest shirt for the first time since he was sent on loan to Besiktas.
That move didn’t quite go according to plan – although he did manage to help the club lift the Turkish Cup at the end of the campaign.
After yesterday’s 45-minute cameo, Nuno Espirito Santo was quizzed on Worrall and a number of other players linked with moves away from the club.

It should have really come to this for a man who lives and breathes Nottingham Forest Football Club.
But, here we are last season Worrall seemed to be dropped after a falling out with former boss Steve Cooper.
That didn’t go down too well with a number of supporters and Worrall has to now prove himself all over again to another manager.
After the resounding win over League Two opposition yesterday, Espirito Santo was quizzed on the players currently on the fringe of the squad.
He told Nottinghamshire Live: “They are our players. We are taking care of them, because they are part of the club. We will embrace them and prepare them, then we will make decisions.
“We still have a long way to go. We have to take a good look at all of the aspects and decide what is best for them and their careers. We are really careful with those situations.”
Worrall unlikely to have chance of reprieve at Forest
The Reds have a lot of players and it’s highly unlikely that Worrall will play for Forest in a competitive game again.
Murillo, Willy Boly and Andrew Omobamidele are all ahead of him, whilst Forest are keen to sign Nikola Milenkovic from Fiorentina.
Worrall has served Forest well and he was a big part of the team that won promotion to the Premier League in 2021/22.
At Premier League level, however, he’s not quite cut it and has made a number of errors in certain games.
At 27-years-old, the Nottingham-born defender would welcome first-team action and clubs have been linked with him previously.
Worrall has made 226 appearances for Forest and as a fan of the club, he’d dearly love the chance to stake a claim for a place under Espirito Santo.
In our view, that simply doesn’t look likely and Forest will surely try and offload him during the transfer window.
