Packers Week 5 Inactives: Jaire Alexander out for a second straight week

Although he returned to practice late in the week, Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander will not play in Sunday afternoon’s game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Alexander was one of the Packers designated as inactive for the game ahead of kickoff, meaning he will miss a second straight game. He missed last week’s game against the Minnesota Vikings after suffering a groin injury in practice leading up to that game. Joining Alexander on the inactive list are wide receiver Christian Watson, who injured his ankle during last Sunday’s game and did not practice at all during the week, and rookie offensive lineman Jordan Morgan, who was hoping to return after a few weeks’ absence.

However, the Packers have several other members of the team who were listed as Questionable on Friday’s injury report available on Sunday. That group includes the likes of tight end Luke Musgrave, linebacker Edgerrin Cooper, and cornerback Carrington Valentine. Valentine’s return is particularly important with Alexander remaining out this week. With Valentine playing, he will likely start at one boundary corner opposite Eric Stokes, which should allow Keisean Nixon to return to his usual role in the slot.

Here is the full list of inactive players for the Packers this week:

*CB Jaire Alexander
*DE Brenton Cox, Jr.
*OT Travis Glover
*OL Jordan Morgan
*WR Christian Watson
*DT Devonte Wyatt
The Rams, meanwhile, will remain without wide receiver Cooper Kupp, while fellow top receiver Puka Nacua is still on injured reserve. That should make the job at least somewhat less challenging for Valentine and company in the Packers’ secondary. The Rams’ inactives are as follows:

*QB Stetson Bennett
*OL Geron Christian
*LB Brennan Jackson
*DE Desjuan Johnson
*WR Cooper Kupp
*RB Cody Schrader
?CB Tre’Davious White
