Crystal Palace have been handed a major boost with Arsenal centre-back Gabriel a doubt for Sunday’s Premier League clash at the Emirates.
Arsenal have been practially inpenetrable this season, conceding only three goals in all competitions.
However, Mikel Arteta could be forced to abandon the solid pairing of William Saliba and Gabriel at centre-back after the Brazilian suffered a thigh injury during the Gunners’ 4-0 win over Atletico Madrid on Tuesday.
Gabriel has won his last five matches against Palace, with the Arsenal defence leaking only three goals in those encounters.
The Brazilian has scored twice against the Eagles, netting a brace as the Gunners beat then Roy Hodgson’s side 5-0 in January 2024.
Arsenal boss Arteta said: “Big Gabi had to leave the pitch with an issue and he hasn’t been able to train yet, so let’s see how he evolves in the next 24 hours, whether he’s available or not for the weekend.”
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner said that all of his players seemed to come through the defeat to AEK Larnaca unscathed.
