Phoenix Suns’ Bradley Beal, Grayson Allen questionable for home opener vs. Mavericks

Phoenix Suns guards Bradley Beal and Grayson Allen were listed as questionable for Saturday’s 2024-25 regular season home opener against the Dallas Mavericks, the team announced.

Josh Okogie (right hamstring strain) will not play, meaning his season debut for the Suns will remain on hold.

Beal is dealing with right elbow soreness and Allen could miss his second straight game with cited personal reasons.

The Mavericks (1-0) had a pair of two-way G League players, Kessler Edwards and Brandon Williams, out for the contest without noting injury areas. Guard Dante Exum was the only other player on the Dallas injury report, who remains sidelined after right wrist surgery on Oct. 8.

Beal will be a game-time decision for first-year Suns coach Mike Budenholzer. The star guard played 35+ minutes (38 and 35) in each of the first two games and has started 7 for 12 from three-point range. He posted nine assists in a 123-116 loss at the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday and has limited the turnovers to two per game.

Allen, who announced over the summer he is expecting his first child, scored eight points on 2-of-6 shooting behind the three-point line in a 116-113 overtime win against the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday.

The Suns (1-1) take on the Mavericks after losing two-of-three contests against the Luka Doncic-led squad last season. Devin Booker was the top scorer in two of those matchups, notably dropping 46 points in a convincing 132-109 win in Dallas on Jan. 24.

The reigning Western Conference champion Mavericks opened their 2024-25 campaign with a 120-109 home win over the San Antonio Spurs. Doncic and newly-minted teammate Klay Thompson combined for 50 points and 17 rebounds.
