Pittsburgh Steelers rookie defensive tackle to miss final preseason game

Pittsburgh Steelers rookie defensive lineman Logan Lee will not play in the team’s final preseason game against the Detroit Lions with an undisclosed injury. Lee was seen in street clothes during warmups off on the sideline, signifying that he will likely sit out the game.

Lee, the Steelers’ sixth-round pick out of Iowa, is fighting for a roster spot in a loaded defensive line room. He has played more nose tackle after starting out as a five-technique after Breiden Fehoko’s injury. With him out, the Steelers will look down the depth chart, likely to former Michigan State standout Jacob Slade to fill out the nose tackle depth chart.

Lee has been quiet for much of the preseason. Others on the roster, such as DeMarvin Leal, Isaiahh Loudermilk, and Montravius Adams, have surged, while Lee has not made his mark. While he is a virtual lock for the practice squad with his motor and versatility, Lee seems like he will have an uphill battle to make the Steelers’ final roster.

Lee could sign with another team on their 53-man roster after cutdown day if the Steelers release him. He showed up at the Shrine Bowl and parlayed that into a solid week at the NFL Combine. As a result, the Steelers drafted him, but he has yet to flash his strengths consistently.
