Raiders Sign Former Bengals’ Defensive Tackle

The Las Vegas Raiders have been ravaged by the injury bug so far in 2024. Their injury report before last week’s loss to the Denver Broncos was massive, and unfortunately, they don’t seem to be getting any healthier anytime soon.

The Raiders got some devastating news earlier this week, when they had to place DT Christian Wilkins on the IR as he recovers from a Jones fracture. Being on the IR means he’ll have to miss at least four games, but his injury can sometimes take up to multiple months to fully recover from.

With that in mind, Las Vegas needed to add some depth at defensive tackle. In doing so, they added Zach Carter on Thursday, as KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson reports.

Carter was a decent prospect coming out of college, and was selected with the 95th overall pick in the 2022 draft. Since then, he’s started in 16 games over the last two years and change, and has seen the field in 37. During that time, he’s totaled 55 tackles, one sack, two tackles for a loss and four QB hits.

Carter now joins a defensive line which has had it’s depth tested over the past few weeks. John Jenkins and Adam Butler will likely be the two starting defensive tackles with Wilkins out.

Jenkins is a veteran, and he’s been a reliable force at this point in his career. Butler on the other hand, has been having a sneaky-good year. He’s got 14 solo tackles, and has missed just two tackles on the year.

Carter will likely join Nesta Jade Silvera as the rotating second-string defensive tackles on the unit.
