Rams pick up another RB ahead of final preseason game

The Los Angeles Rams are adding depth at running back ahead of their third and final preseason game against the Houston Texans. The team announced the signing of SaRodorick Thompson, who will likely join Zach Evans and Boston Scott as the active ball carriers for Saturday’s matchup. If Scott has secured a role as a returner for the Rams’, it’s possible that Evans and Thompson will handle the majority of the backfield reps for LA.

Thompson played college football at Texas Tech, and from 2018 to 2022 he accumulated 540 carries for 2,664 rushing yards (4.93 average) and 40 touchdowns. As a receiver he caught 91 passes for 520 yards and another touchdown. He’s listed at 6-0, 215 lbs.

After going undrafted in 2023, the running back initially signed with the New Orleans Saints. He was released before training camp and joined the Seattle Seahawks in late July. Thompson appeared in a Week 8 regular season game on offense versus the Arizona Cardinals for two snaps before Seattle released him in late October.

The Dallas Cowboys picked Thompson up in early 2024 ahead of their wildcard game versus the Green Bay Packers, but opted to not sign him to a futures contract—and he’s been a free agent since.

The Rams will take on the Texans Saturday at 10am PT. Stayed tuned at Turf Show Times for coverage during and after the game, and as the team cuts down to the final 53-man roster at the conclusion of the preseason.
