Joe Flacco has been around the NFL since he was drafted in the first round of the 2008 NFL draft. Now, the veteran quarterback is back for his second stint with the Cleveland Browns and gets a chance at his former organization, the Baltimore Ravens.
On the Ravens side is another first-round pick, albeit the 32nd overall pick in 28-year-old Lamar Jackson. Jackson came into the league in 2018, which was the final season of Flacco in Baltimore.
Jackson was asked about his former teammate, and the Ravens quarterback made his opinion quite clear about the 40-year-old:
“How cool he was,” Jackson said. “How funny he was. I don’t know if people know, but Flacc’s funny, dog. He used to have me rolling. This man just say stuff so nonchalant. He’s a great person to be around.”
Flacco was a legend in Baltimore, helping the Ravens win a Super Bowl during the 2012 season. After beating the Colts 24-9 in the first round, Flacco and the Ravens needed two overtimes to beat the Broncos in the divisional round.

Flacco was a legend in Baltimore, helping the Ravens win a Super Bowl during the 2012 season. After beating the Colts 24-9 in the first round, Flacco and the Ravens needed two overtimes to beat the Broncos in the divisional round.
The Ravens topped the Patriots 28-13 in the AFC title game, before edging San Francisco 34-31. Flacco was named the Super Bowl MVP of the game.
Flacco was known for his durability, going through his first seven seasons without missing a game for the Ravens. During the 2014 season, he threw a career high of 27 touchdowns, while in 2016, he went for 4,317 passing yards.
On the other side, Jackson has won two MVP awards, but has yet to lead his team to a Super Bowl. The Ravens quarterback was the NFL passing touchdowns leader in 2019 and has been to the Pro Bowl four times, but with Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow and Josh Allen in the AFC, Jackson has yet to come out on top.
Both teams are coming off narrow losses in their opener, making Week 2 a pivotal one for both squads. The Ravens blew a lead on the road at Buffalo and fell to the Bills 41-40. Jackson tossed for 209 yards and two touchdowns in the game, rushing for 70 more and a score.
Flacco and the Browns fell 17-16 at home to the Cincinnati Bengals. Flacco threw two interceptions in the game. In Cleveland, the pressure is on the 40-year-old, as two rookies sit behind him on the depth chart, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders.
