Nottingham Forest are set for a tricky test against Arsenal at the Emirates on Saturday, and Ryan Yates has now given away the game plan.
Nuno Espirito Santo has taken Nottingham Forest from a team looked at by many as underdogs to a side that the top six are now wary of.
Ryan Yates has been there every step of the way with Nottingham Forest, through the bad times and now the good, so this will feel even sweeter for him.
Interestingly, Yates has made that much of an impact at Forest that they’ve not set up a program to try and identify the next academy star who can follow in his footsteps.
Now, he’s been talking ahead of the Arsenal game and has revealed the game plan Nottingham Forest will turn up to the Emirates with.
Ryan Yates shares Nottingham Forest’s game plan for Arsenal
Ryan Yates has been one of the first names on the teamsheet as club captain, leading from the front.
Henry Winter says Yates has been an unsung hero for Nottingham Forest this season, and we have to agree as his tireless work off the ball often goes unnoticed.
Speaking ahead of the Arsenal clash (as per Guardian), Yates has reveled the game plan Forest will go to the Emirates with and how he doesn’t like to be called an underdog anymore.
“Going to Arsenal, an amazing team, we will go there to assert our authority on the game, like we did at Liverpool [Forest won 1-0 in September]. We are trying to get rid of that underdog mentality and just show how good we are, how much we have progressed as a club.”
Arsenal can be vulnerable if you put it on them
Arsenal have shown vulnerability in the Premier League, conceding six goals in their last four games.
Of course, pressing and putting pressure on Arsenal as Yates says could definitely work well, but they’ve also been caught on the counter-attack at times, which is where Elanga and Hudson-Odoi come in.
The real interesting test will be how Chris Wood copes up against William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes.
Being the underdog worked in Forest’s favour against Liverpool, but teams have now become wise to the Reds’ dangers, as serious challengers for Europe.
