Steve Kerr Breaks Silence About Recent Klay Thompson Reports

At this point in his NBA career, star guard Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors isn’t the same dominant two-way player he once was when he and Stephen Curry were considered arguably the best backcourt duo in the league.

Along with no longer having the distinction of being an elite player on both ends of the basketball floor, the Warriors seem ready to move on, as Thompson and the team’s brass haven’t seen eye-to-eye on a contract extension ahead of NBA free agency.

The future of the dynamic trio of Draymond Green, Curry and Thompson seems to be very much up in the air right now, as all signs point to the two sides parting ways this summer.

With Thompson rumored to be receiving interest around the league and those teams being willing to give him a lucrative long-term deal, the Warriors front office needs to make a decision on the four-time NBA champion’s future.

However, it was up to longtime head coach Steve Kerr, Golden State would bring him back without a second thought, as he told Jim Rome on The Jim Show.

“We really want him back. He’s Klay Thompson,” Kerr said.

At this point, there’s no telling what Thompson’s future holds, as he could very well sign a massive deal with the Orlando Magic this summer and leave the only team he’s played for during his professional career.

Only time will tell whether the Warriors still value the sharpshooter and are willing to pay what the veteran guard is looking for in NBA free agency.
