Steve Kerr Has Honest Admission About Jonathan Kuminga’s Injury

The Golden State Warriors cannot catch a break.

Just when he was starting to turn the corner, Jonathan Kuminga sustained an ankle injury.

Notably, it might be more serious than they initially thought.

According to a report by Anthony Slater, coach Steve Kerr revealed that the ankle sprain was ‘significant.’

He added that Kuminga wouldn’t be considered day-to-day, and while he will undergo further testing to determine the extent of the injury, he could be looking at a prolonged absence.

Kuminga averages 16.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 0.9 steals per game, shooting 45% from the floor.

He had a couple of big games last week and was expected to be the team’s second-leading scorer behind Stephen Curry.

Even so, he has failed to establish himself as a consistent contributor, and coach Kerr has always kept him on a short leash.

While incredibly athletic and clearly talented, the team has needed more from him.

He’s been tangled up in multiple trade rumors in the past, but team owner Joe Lacob is reportedly very high on him.

Nevertheless, the Warriors need someone who can contribute and help them win an NBA championship now, not in two or three years.

Curry is entering the backend of his prime and has struggled with a knee injury this season.

And with Jimmy Butler reportedly in the mix to arrive in the Bay area soon, Kuminga might actually be a part of the trade package.

Time is running out for Steve Kerr’s team, and they will have to make a decision soon.
